Casetta Rosetta

This comfortable, convenient apartment in Milazzo, Sicily, caters to tourists. While Casetta Rosetta may have a short history, the private residence in which it is located has a much older history – belonging for six generations to the maternal side of the current owner (Tommaso Pantè). The house was built in the early 18th Century in the Rococò style, indicating the prosperity of the owner and reflecting a popular architectural style of the times. Sometime later in the 1800s, the ground level, later to become today’s Casetta Rosetta, was sold to another buyer, whose family rented it on a long-term basis.

In 2010, Tommaso completed renovations of the two upper levels as a private residence for himself, following all the strict codes required within Il Borgo Antico di Milazzo (the Historic District). In 2013, he purchased the ground level and began its renovations. By the beginning of 2014, Casetta Rosetta was ready with all new furnishings and accessories.

Location: Casetta Rosetta is located in a very quiet residential area on Via Calascione in the historic district. The town centre is only 200 metres (.1 mile) away. The Port for ferries/hydrofoils to the Aeolian Islands is only 1 kilometer (.6 mile) away.

Milazzo, called Mylai (City of the Sea) in ancient times, has a population of about 35,000. While known primarily as the main port for travel to the Aeolian Islands, only a few miles offshore, Milazzo is also close to other historical or cultural sites and is only 37.5 kilometres (23.3 miles) from Messina, the provincial capital. Trains and buses operate on regular schedules, and the closest airports are in Palermo and Catania.

Details

Casetta Rosetta is approximately 50 sq. metres (540 sq. feet). The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, replaced in 2023. The bathroom has a shower, a bidet, and chromo therapy lights. The spacious kitchen/living area also includes a double-sized sofa bed, replaced in 2022. Outside the entrance is a shared garden, 20 sq. metres (215 sq. feet) with Mediterranean vegetation. Parking is available on the street for a vehicle, only 20 meters (21 feet) from the entrance to the apartment.
